Bernard Dunne – world title fight night September 23, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — The Green Room Bar @ 11:07 am

WBA Super Bantamweight Champ Bernard Dunne will make the first defence of his World title at The O2 on Saturday,
September 26th when he faces number one rated contender Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym on the Hunky Dorys World Title Fight Night.

Poonsawat watched Dunne’s thrilling victory over Cordoba but he says he’s reserving judgement on the Irishman until he steps in the ring with him. “I watched that fight and both Dunne and Cordoba are good boxers but I’m not sure that Cordoba was in the best of shape for that fight. I fought him before and I know that he’s not an easy guy to knock down. So either he came in to that fight in poor condition or else Dunne must be a very big puncher. “Clearly Dunne has a great fighting heart but I don’t see him as a very skilled boxer. He proved against Cordoba that he has a big heart and maybe he is a big puncher too but we will see what happens next month.”

Join us in The Green Room this SATURDAY for the fight of the year! Dunne VS Poonsawat!!

Piano Players have become hard to find in Dublin, a city where guitar players and bands primarily take the main stage. The Green Room – a Boutique Piano Bar located in Dublin’s Docklands close to The O2 – decided to find Dublin’s top piano player to be resident of their bar. The search began last May with radio ads going live on Phantom 105.2 to search for Dublin’s next best piano player asking interested piano players to visit the bars website to enter the competition.

16 contestants were chosen to compete in the heats throughout the competition. These represented Dublin’s most talented piano entertainers, chosen by the competition organisers. Over four weeks of heats, the players competed to high standards battling ferociously through all styles of music to show their skills and determination in reaching the finals and a chance to win a permanent residency and €500.

The finalists selected to compete for Friday 11th September at The Green Room Bar were Rob Deering, Anthony Ward, Eoghan Leddy and John Michael Boylan, all aspiring talented pianists and superb entertainers.

The winner was selected by a panel of judges which included Pearl from “Coming Down with Pearl” on Phantom 105.2. This was an excellent night for all piano lovers, to witness the finest piano players Dublin has to offer them all in one night and in the one place – The Green Room Bar.

Rob Deering of Stepaside, wowed the bar with a vast selection of jazz standards and modern numbers. He is now The Green Room Bars new resident pianist and collected his cheque for €500 on the night. Rob Deering can now be seen on Friday nights from 8pm playing in The Green Room Bar. Go to for more details
